Love Letters
Painted during her Quick Response Residency at PICA from July 8th to 21st, 2024, "Love Letters" is Mossy's “Ode to Boorloo, Perth.”
This collection explores the sentimental experience of place and memories as visual love letters through abstract oil paintings. Mossy seeks to capture the emotional resonance of Boorloo, paying homage to its light, landscapes, bodies of water, and horizon lines, interpreted into a unique visual language.
This collection has been created in response to Mossy's relationship to Boorloo, having grown up here as a settler non-Indigenous to Whadjuk Noongar country. Mossy Jade acknowledges the unceded lands of Whadjuk Noongar country and the ongoing resistance of the sovereign custodians Indigenous to this land. She pays respect to elders past, present, and emerging leaders in the community. Always was, always will be Indigenous land.
